Before ordering, we suggest you read over some important points:
As a home draft beer enthusiast, you're system falls into one of
three categories:
- The Keg Cooler - You have made it life. You drink good beer.
You don't charge your friends for a cup when they come over. You
have one entire appliance designed, built and dedicated to serving
fresh draft beer.
- The "Kegerator" - You talked your parents out of their
old refrigerator or you saw an obvious curbside hazard to neighborhood
children. With a hole saw, a pair of pliers, a little electrical
tape and some elbow grease you created what will surely make your
garage, basement, kitchen or bedroom the congregation point of
your next party.
- The picinic pump - You woke up on a Sunday morning with a screaming
headache. You had someone else's return address stamped on your
forehead, three dollars missing from your wallet and a "tapper"
in your bathroom. None of your friends know where the tapper came
from, so you kept it.
For those of you who prefer pictures, your home draft beer system
looks like one of the three below. At least a little bit. We have
kits that will work for the Keg Cooler and the "Kegerator."
The picnic TurboTap will be available this summer.

Q: What mistake do almost all TurboTap Home Users with
Keg Coolers make in an attempt to save $30?
A: They order a kegerator kit. The reason you need a new tower is
so that you have room to fit your glassware underneath the TurboTap,
which extends approximately 4.75" from the bottom of your faucet.
If you have a Keg Cooler with a draft tower, you need the custom
built 16" Draft Tower.
Q: What is a coupler? A tower? A faucet? A shank? I just
want a beer tap!
A: This picture explains the main components of your home draft
beer system.
- The coupler, often refered to as a "tapper", is the
device that mates with the valve built into the keg. It should
be clean, should prevent beer from flowing back into the keg by
means of a check ball and should prevent gas from flowing out
of the keg via a rubber "duck valve." The two rubber
gaskets on the under-side of the coupler should be present and
in good condition.
- The draft tower should be clean and have a good supply of cold
air flowing up into it. A good check is that the air coming out
when the lid is removed should be sufficient to extinguish a burning
match.
- The faucet, also refered to as "the tap", is the the
valve that turns the flow of beer on and off. It is assembled
of many parts and should be taken apart and cleaned regularly.
- The shank, hidden between the faucet and the tower, should be
clean and unobstructed.

Q: Does the Home User Kit come with everything I need?
A: Yes. Although, "everything I need" varies from person
to person. At the very least, everyone will need a TurboTap (obvious)
and new tubing (to allow faster flow). In addition, many home draft
systems come with inexpensive forged brass faucets. By including
a new faucet in the kit, we guarantee that it will be a good fit.
Since temperature is by far the most important variable in draft
beer, we've included two thermometers, one for the cooler, one for
the beer. You may require a towerl lift, which is also available.
Q: What type of glassware is best with TurboTap?
A: First of all, clean glassware is best. Beyond clean, you can
use just about anything. TurboTap was designed for 12 to 16 ounce
plastic cups in stadiums, but works well for pint glasses, mugs
and pilsners. (No frosty mugs though, chilled is good, frosty is
bad.) The TurboTap Tower Kit comes with an extra-tall 16" custom
made tower. All but the very tallest glasses will fit under your
TurboTap.
Q: Will TurboTap pour a perfect beer even if my beer is
way too warm?
A: A TurboTap beer will always pour better than a non-TurboTap beer.
That being said, if your beer is too warm, it will not be a perfect
pour. But to counter one question with another...Why would you want
to pour warm beer?
Q: O.K. fine, but how do I make sure that my cooler is
at the right temperature?
A: Keep a bottle of water, preferably one liter or bigger, in your
keg cooler or refrigerator. Measuring the temperature of that water
will be a close estimate of the average temperature of
your cooler. When it reads 38 F, you are ready to start pouring
great beer. |
